Which of your cases makes you proudest of the result?

The cases and interlocutory disputes that make me most proud are the ones that I am able to resolve by means of thoughtful preparation and impactful writing.  I have successfully resolved motions and entire matters shortly after serving an opposing party with effective letters, factums and mediation briefs.  In any action, I believe that a lawyer has an opportunity to create profound savings for their clients through writing which is both concise and persuasive.

What do you think the most important factor is in resolving a file?

Establishing a theory to a case and reassessing the same when appropriate are integral to the resolution of a file.  As an action evolves, pertinent information is discovered and must be critiqued by the lawyer so that he or she can adjust the case strategy and make proper recommendations to his or her clients.  Careful planning and flexibility are key.

What’s the most valuable lesson that your professional experience has taught you?

The value of communication and collegiality cannot be understated.  Clients and opposing counsel all appreciate the efforts that a lawyer takes to ensure timely and respectful communication throughout the life of a file.  A simple telephone call can save hours of work and can otherwise help to resolve a dispute completely.
