Jamal is an Associate at Marta Watson LLP practicing with the firm’s litigation group. Jamal’s developing practice is focused on civil and commercial litigation, with a focus on insurance defence, privacy, and cyber liability. He regularly advises clients on a variety of matters, including motor vehicle collisions, occupier’s liability, products liability, professional negligence, as well as commercial disputes and contractual issues. His approach to litigation is pragmatic and cooperative. He focuses on providing timely, pragmatic, and cost-effective results and strives to consistently develop cohesive strategies that meet his clients’ needs.
Prior to joining Marta Watson, Jamal articled and practiced at a prominent litigation boutique where he advised corporate and private clients on sophisticated personal injury, property loss, and contractual matters. He has successfully appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Licence Appeal Tribunal, and Small Claims Court.
Jamal also takes an interest in legal research and writing whose works have been published in a number of publications, including the Toronto Law Journal.
Jamal graduated cum laude from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law in 2019. During law school, Jamal was competitively selected as a Teaching Assistant for the Faculty’s Dispute Resolution Practicum. He was awarded with the Rick Weiler Prize for Effective Lawyer-Client Relations and Teamwork in Mediation. Jamal also holds an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Western Ontario.
In his spare time, Jamal is an avid sports fan, enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants and coffee shops in the city, and listening to Charles Bradley records.
