Andrew Cottreau

Andrew implements well thought-out litigation strategies in order to achieve his clients’ goals and objectives.

Which of your cases makes you proudest of the result?

While I enjoy every opportunity to advocate for my clients inside the courtroom, I am proudest when an opposing party changes their position after receiving our written submissions. It is a reminder to not overlook the power of written advocacy and that the opportunity for success exists before even entering the courtroom.

What do you think the most important factor is in resolving a file?

Taking the time to develop and implement a strategy for each case is key to effective resolution. Each stage in the litigation process presents an opportunity to either resolve the matter, or develop the proper foundation to move your case forward. Only with a well thought-out strategy is it possible to know whether to try again to reach out to opposing counsel, bring a Motion, schedule proceedings, or continue to Trial.

What’s the most valuable lesson that your professional experience has taught you?

The majority of matters in litigation come down to a narrow set of issues. Being able to sort through “the weeds” to identify and appreciate the real issues at play is essential to success and effective representation.
