Which of your cases makes you proudest of the result?

I am most proud of the cases where my attention to detail and persistence has yielded positive results. I am particularly proud of a case where my diligent research into an expert witness helped to bolster our client’s position shortly before a hearing and allowed the matter to be concluded in our favour. Ultimately, I am proud of any case which rewards my skills in legal research and information management.

What do you think the most important factor is in resolving a file?

I think the most important factor in resolving a file is the lawyer’s ability to understand the different sides and positions of a dispute. The lawyer is able to provide better service to their client by understanding the opposing argument and positions. This allows the lawyer to develop a reasoned and practical assessment of the file which ultimately improves the lawyer’s ability to advocate for their client’s position and resolve the matter.

What’s the most valuable lesson that your professional experience has taught you?

The most valuable lesson that I have learned through my professional experience is that the practice of law is a team exercise. Like most sports, teamwork is essential to success in a legal dispute. There are immeasurable dividends available to lawyers and clients that value collaboration in the practice of law.

Aaron is passionate about litigation and advocacy. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2021 and has since then practiced primarily in the area of insurance defence with an emphasis on automobile insurance disputes. Before joining Marta Watson LLP as an associate in 2022, Aaron articled and practiced at a Toronto insurance defence firm.

Aaron graduated from the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law in 2020. During his time there he participated in a Pro Bono Students Canada project involving local Windsor musicians and interned under a judge at the Ontario Court of Justice in the criminal court. Prior to his law studies, he attended the University of Toronto where he completed his Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Masters degree with a specialization in Archives and Records Management. It was through this program and his time at Library and Archives Canada that his passion for law and advocacy burgeoned.

Aaron is a member of the Canadian Defence Lawyers.

Aaron enjoys volunteering for local community radio stations such as CIUT 89.5 FM in Toronto, Ontario and CJAM 99.1 FM (when he lived in Windsor, Ontario). In his spare time, he enjoys biking and watching Formula 1. He also enjoys collecting, repairing and using vintage musical equipment.
